Our small group is studying The Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas....it has been very interesting! I wish every couple that is thinking of getting married had to go through this book. It brings up some very interesting questions and a very unique perspective of what marriage should be. Is marriage designed to make you happy or to make you holy? From a Christian perspective, putting God first, your marriage is your ministry. When you get married and take those vows you enter into a life of service, service to your spouse. If every married person really "got" this concept, the divorce rate would decline drastically....but then probably so would the number of marriages. Putting God first... instead of yourself?? Instead of your spouse?? What would a marriage look like forty or fifty years down the road if it was truly God centered?? AWESOME!! A little statistic for those that are statistically inclined...Divorce rate for couples that pray together every day??? ONE PERCENT....wow.
