Trip and I went to Georgia this weekend! We left here on Friday afternoon, got to Acworth to see our lovely daughter and her wonderful husband about 8:15. Jillian and Greg just got married in an AWESOME wedding ceremony in Gastonia, NC!!! I will post pics of that soon! But...anyway, back to the weekend.... it was very nice to just "visit"!! We love to just sit and TALK to them!! What wonderful young adults!....ADULTS????? WHEN did that HAPPEN???? But adults they are!.. and starting their journey together as they become "one".
As parents, we are so proud of them for so many things but mostly for their commitment to each other and to God. It is easy to see that Greg takes his role as husband very seriously and will do anything and everything to "love, honor, and protect" his wife. He treats her like gold and we are so thankful!!! Jillian is loving her role as "wife" and it is easy to see that she adores her husband, she takes very good care of him! They make quite a couple!
We enjoyed out visit immensely! Even if I can't play the drums...I had fun trying!! Jillian cooked a wonderful dinner...YES SHE REALLY DID COOK, I WATCHED HER!!!! LOL...she continues to amaze me! And yes, Greg, we slept great!!! The bed in the guest room is very comfy!!! :)
Their church is great and it is easy to see why they are so excited about going! The minister is not only a good preacher but a great teacher. We are glad they are building such a strong foundation! During the service today they had 3 baby dedications which were very different from ones I had seen before. These were very sweet and I loved how they did them. Each family brought their baby up on stage and on both screens were photos of the baby, the family, etc. while you heard the mother or father reading a letter they wrote to the baby or in one case a prayer the parents had written for the baby...the hopes and dreams of the parents and what kind of people they wanted their baby to grow up to be and why they were going to be brought up in the church.. It is very encouraging to see young families stating what they believe and why. It was very sweet!
After church Greg and Jillian took us to the Olive Garden for lunch, it was great! And then it was time to go....FAST WEEKEND!!
I miss them so much...but we will see them soon! Thanksgiving is right around the corner..even though we don't get them on Thanksgiving Day....we are thankful for our time together whenever that is!! And this year it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving in Burlington! YAY!!
