My Babies....will always be my babies...
When do your children stop being your children? I guess that is an age old question..and we have all seen how life happens...The young parents care for their babies...babies grow up...have babies of their own...and then at some point are forced into the "parent" role, caring for their own parents...But what about the in between time? The time when you have adult children...who have children of their own now...Do you stop being their parent and just relegate to "grand parent"... No. Your children are always your children..your babies are ALWAYS your babies..no matter how old they get...No matter how many babies they may have and no matter how much you enjoy being a grandparent...Your children are still, and always will be, your babies...I remember when I was in my 30's..I had children of my own...and my parents had come for a visit. (which was often because they only lived a few blocks away) I wasn't feeling very well that day and my Dad was sitting on the couch, I sat beside him and he put his arm around me and started rubbing my back...my husband came in at that moment and made the comment "oh please, don't be such a baby" or something like that... I don't remember his comment, but I remember my Dad's reply.."She'll always be MY baby"...and I was..always his baby. There is a fine line you have to walk with adult children, especially if they are married and have families of their own. They see themselves as self sufficient adults, able to take care of themselves and their families..and that is wonderful. That is how it is supposed to be...but SOMETIMES...just for a moment...everybody likes to be "the baby"...and sometimes...just for a moment...parents need to take care of their babies...just for a moment..
